Millions of Americans watched the 30-second Focus on the Family Super Bowl ad last night featuring Pam and Tim Tebow. While there was nothing remotely offensive about the ad (in fact, the right to life was not even addressed directly), pro-abortion groups are on the attack today trying to use the ad to stoke outrage and solicit donations from their supporters. NARAL sent an email this morning urging supporters to “throw a post game penalty flag at CBS” for allowing Focus to air its “anti-choice” commercial. What does NARAL want its supporters to do to punish CBS? Donate to NARAL, of course.
Not to be outdone, NOW president Terry O’Neill told the Los Angeles Times, “I am blown away at the celebration of the violence against women in it.” O’Neill was referring to the end of the ad, when Tim “tackles” his mom, who then playfully chides him for interrupting her. I hope that the likes of NARAL and NOW get as much airtime as they want to vent their reactions to the ad. Because with each extreme remark, they expose more of their extreme agenda.

CBS’s decision to air a Super Bowl ad that tells the story of Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Tim Tebow’s miraculous birth has caused an uproar among liberals. NOW condemned the commercial, which details Tim’s mother’s decision to give birth to Tim despite a doctor’s recommendation to abort because of possible health complications, as “extraordinarily offensive and demeaning” and “hate masquerading as love.” The Feminist Majority Foundation launched a campaign to get the “anti-choice super bowl ad removed.”
The Left is complaining that the ad is too controversial. But as I explain in my Human Events column today, the real reason for their outrage is exactly the opposite: that the commercial is so inoffensive and, in fact, so inspiring that they worry it might actually win hearts and minds for the idea that all human life is sacred. You can read my column at www.humanevents.com.

Last week we applauded our friends at Focus on the Family and the Tebow family for having the courage to speak up for the sanctity of life in a 30-second Super Bowl ad. CBS is coming under a barrage of attacks from radical pro-abortion groups and the usual suspects on the Left for agreeing to air the ad.
Sarah Palin defended the ad last week, writing on her Facebook page, “Women should be reminded that they are strong enough and smart enough to make decisions that allow for career and educational opportunities while still giving their babies a chance at life.” Appearing on Fox News Thursday, Palin took on the National Organization for Women, saying, “For NOW to have chosen this…to come across sounding quite offended by hearing that a pro-life commercial will air on the Super Bowl day, it’s baffling.”
Palin is being polite. This is just one more example of the gross intolerance of the Left, attempting to silence speech it disagrees with. Even the New York Times chastised the Left for its “puzzling and dismaying” reaction.
Don’t let the Left dominate this debate. Please take action in defense of our values. Click here to send a message of encouragement to the executives at CBS through its website’s feedback form. Thank you.

Israel is constantly being berated by Third World thugs and leftwing activists. Whenever something terrible happens – outbreaks of disease (including the swine flu), accidents, natural disasters, recessions, etc. – some commentators, usually in the Muslim world, are quick to blame it on “the Jews,” “the Israelis” or some “Zionist conspiracy.” But despite being six and half thousand miles away, Israel got to Haiti first with nearly 200 medical professionals and the only fully functioning hospital. Haitians are reportedly streaming to the Israeli hospital because the word is out that “the best care available is that of the IDF (Israeli Defense Forces).”
By the way, check out this list from CBS News, and note which nations are conspicuously absent in sending aid and supplies.

As the nation approaches the one year anniversary of Barack Obama’s inauguration, administration officials are crowing about all their “accomplishments.” On the White House website, you can read about the myriad ways in which President Obama has saved the global economy, tackled climate change and made us safe.
Some of you may be dubious, but you can participate in a series of live online chats and blogs with key White House aides as they detail “what the Obama Administration has done over the past year, and where the Administration is heading on pivotal issues.” The White House may be trying to put on a happy face, but the American people clearly aren’t happy with hope and change.
Virtually every major polling outfit and news organization now finds that the president’s approval rating has tanked. Yesterday, CBS News reported that Obama’s approval rating hit a new low in its polling at 46%. Today, it’s Gallup, which reports that only 40% of Americans approve of Obama’s handling of the economy and just 37% approve of his performance on healthcare reform.
CNN and Quinnipiac University asked voters whether Obama’s first year in office had been a success or a failure. Quinnipiac found that voters were evenly divided at 45% each. CNN found 48% of voters saying Obama’s first year was a failure, while 47% said it was successful. And, after a year of Obama’s leadership, Quinnipiac found voters statistically tied when asked whether the nation would have been better off or worse off if John McCain had become president instead of Barack Obama.

Here are some reactions to Obama’s West Point speech that may surprise you.
“Reporters love a deadline — we’ll hound him over it. Just wait until next year. There will be flashy graphics on our screens saying, ‘Countdown to Drawdown.’” That might sound like sarcasm from Sean Hannity, but it actually came from CBS’s Kimberly Dozier.
“How do you on the one hand say: ‘We need to send these troops over there; it’s critical; this is in our national-security interest to do this.’ But then say: ‘But we’re only going to keep them there for 18 months; we’re going to start to withdraw them after 18 months’? I just don’t understand the logic of how that works. …This is not a football game, where the time runs out. To win this war, you have to defeat the enemy.” Glenn Beck? No, that was veteran CBS anchor Bob Schieffer.
Here’s one more: “Where’s the hope? … It sounds more Rube Goldberg than ‘Remember the Alamo.’ … If I were with the Taliban right now, I’d put a little Post-it up on that month in 2011, and say: ‘This is when we do OUR surge.’” Rush Limbaugh? Believe it or not, that was MSNBC’s Chris Matthews speaking Tuesday night, after he had thought more about the substance of Obama’s remarks.
If liberal media elites are starting to second-guess Obama, I suspect millions of Americans are too!

ABC’s one hour infomercial with President Obama promoting his socialized healthcare plan was a ratings bomb for the network. Despite airing in primetime at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, the president attracted fewer than 5 million viewers. The show had the lowest ratings of all the major networks for that hour. It wasn’t as if the other networks aired their most popular shows either. NBC debuted a new show titled “The Philanthropist” and CBS aired a repeat episode of “CSI: NY.”
It appears the American people are getting sick of seeing Barack Obama everywhere. The argument the major news networks use when they receive complaints for giving Obama too much air time is that he is a ratings booster. That argument has lost credibility after Wednesday’s bomb. It is getting harder and harder for Big Media to disguise its true intentions, which is to promote a radical leftwing agenda to the American people. But evidently the American people aren’t that interested in the new ABC — the “All Barack Channel.”
